Reuben is one of Australia’s leaders in strategic design and research, systems thinking and practice. With 20 years of industry experience across Australia and Japan, he has deep knowledge of human-centred design and its application in the commercial and public sectors; the ethics of design; using design to improve access to services; and designing for resilience.

Reuben is particularly dedicated to improving individual and community access to justice by improving people's ability to understand and navigate legal processes, and improving representation regardless of economic or social status. Most recently, Reuben has also applied systems thinking and innovation practices to support emerging markets and services across the energy and environment sectors.

Reuben holds a PhD in Interaction Design and a Bachelor in Design. He is an accomplished facilitator, speaker and educator. He has delivered numerous keynote speeches and workshops for organisations including the Nordic Design Research Society, the Health Informatics Society of Australia, Service Design Now, Design Research Australia, and the National Community Legal Centre Conference.

Reuben is a firm advocate for the view that the best decisions are community-led. He co-founded Paper Giant to support governments and organisations to better connect with the communities they serve through design, allowing all involved to contribute to solutions for the issues that impact them.

My work has a real emphasis on using systems thinking to help organisations scale their impact and better allocate resources, in ways that lead to real, lasting positive social outcomes.
