PG #17: Designers educate, but not many are teachers.

The great thing about working in design is the diversity of contexts, organisations and people that we encounter and work with.
Whether we're designing a website or a service, or co-designing a policy, designers often find ourselves in the role of teacher and educator.
Communicating what we've learned from research interviews to people that weren't able to attend, sketching diagrams and creating prototypes to communicate an idea, designing a presentation for maximum impact – these are all acts of communication, but also acts of education.
Increasingly, designers are being asked to be actual educators too, either through specific capability-building projects or in taking on side-gigs in vocational education institutions.
For designers, understanding how people learn, and what helps lessons stick, is vital, and this edition of the newsletter is going to bust a few myths.
Enjoy!
