About
Peter Collis
Senior Design Researcher
Peter Collis has 20 years of experience designing and delivering research and strategies for change with individuals and organisations, as a qualitative researcher gaining behavioural insights through human-centred design, and as a former psychologist.
Peter is especially adept at working with sensitive subject matter and with people who have experienced challenging contexts.
As a design researcher, Peter uses his extensive training and experience to understand people's needs, motivations, behaviours and contexts meaningfully, centring their stories to inform and improve decisions and outcomes. He employs deep listening to understand problem spaces genuinely, uses qualitative research methods to identify insights and opportunities for change and draws on his knowledge of psychology to help organisations navigate potential barriers to enacting change.
Peter leads research projects across policy, program, behavioural, digital and service contexts, working with the public, private, education and not-for-profit sectors on a broad range of topics from recycling to biosecurity to informing the design and delivery of services in flood-affected areas. He has worked with the Department of Environment and Energy, the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment, the Australian Department of Health, the University of Canberra and the Canberra Institute of Technology.
Peter is undertaking a Master of Design Futures, specialising in Human-centred Design. He has a Graduate Diploma in Science, specialising in Psychology, and a Bachelor of Applied Psychology.
