LGBTIQ Legal Service wanted a website without the branding clichés

LGBTIQ Legal Service wanted a website without the branding clichés
The LGBTIQ Legal Service asked Paper Giant to help them create a website that would demonstrate their credibility, showcase their work, and provide a safe and accessible portal for potential clients.

They asked us to avoid rainbow flags and other stock imagery in favour of non-stereotypical branding that respects the fact that the lives and identities of people who access LGBTIQ legal service are , beyond just their gender and sexuality.

Although we wanted to think beyond rainbow flags, we also wanted to ensure that the website felt safe and inclusive to people from a wide variety of communities. To do this, we added a ‘community safety’ module.

From a traditional UI perspective, this module is counterintuitive: it takes up a lot of real estate on the home page and doesn’t ‘do’ anything. But in fact it does a lot of heavy lifting in terms of signalling what kind of organisation this is and who it’s for.

We pay our respects to the traditional custodians of the lands on which we live and work, and to the traditional custodians of the lands and waters which we may visit upon in our work. We acknowledge their elders past and present. Indigenous sovereignty has never been ceded. It always was, and always will be Aboriginal land.
