About
Alex Kelly
Principal Data and Insight
Alex is a quantitative data strongman — an economist, forecasting analyst and data scientist. His work balances with qualitative insights to help clients make considered and rigorous recommendations, with the overall aim of increasing the quality of people’s everyday lives.
Alex is highly skilled at examining, transforming and modelling data to uncover patterns or clues to suggest or support decision-making. He also likes to build things — modelling frameworks, end-to-end web applications, automations, and artefacts that communicate data-derived information as understandable and useful insights.
Alex has over 10 years of modelling and forecasting experience. He has worked with federal government, councils, Commonwealth bodies, social service providers, community organisations and private companies across Australia. Some of Alex’s past clients include Contentful, the Give Where You Live Foundation, the Department of the Treasury and the National Disability Insurance Agency.
Alex has a particular interest in placemaking and planning — modelling population groups and future demands, looking at broad data sets and then the variables that disrupt broad assumptions. He is experimental and curious in his approach, digging deeper to look at individual journeys, picking out the flaws and opportunities in how people move around and access services.
Alex holds a Bachelor of Science specialising in Psychology and a Master of Applied Economics.
