Good data viz requires good data, especially when comparing across populations. Henriette Jansen is a pioneer in sensitive data collection.

Accurately collecting sensitive data requires an enormous amount of sensitivity and cultural awareness, and striking a balance between getting local authorities on board (there's no point obtaining the data if they're not willing to use it) and to some degree hiding the nature of the questions to be asked (if people know in advance that women are going to be asked questions about violence, partners of the women the researchers would most like to speak to may prevent them from participating).

Her next step is building capacity for sensitive data collection within communities themselves – teaching local interviewers the skill of listening and making space for women's stories.
