We conducted research in Malaysia and the Philippines on media practices, to inform a strategic direction for a new media streaming company.
Understanding the Field
To do this, we spent time in Malaysia and the Philippines to understand people’s media habits and their device and service usage practices, and we conducted a review of existing media streaming products.
Our research guided the early strategic direction of the product, and revealed that localised content for children would be a major strategic differentiator for a successful streaming service.
We also uncovered nuances in the social aspects of media sharing and consumption that informed the design of culturally sensitive social features.
The product is currently in development.
